Ogun speaker urges NLC to support govt in addressing economic challenges
Speaker of the Ogun state House Assembly, Rt. Hon Daisi Elemide, has admonished the State Executive of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to continue to support government at all levels towards ensuring the delivery of people driven policies and programmes that will ameliorate the present economic hardship in the country.
Elemide stated this while receiving the leadership of the State Executive Council of the NLC led by the Vice-Chairman, Comrade Midian Nanle at the Assembly complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The Speaker in company of his deputy, Bolanle Ajayi, Honourables Damilare Bello and Lawal Samusideen, noted that the current economic situation required the support, understanding and perseverance of critical stakeholders including the labour unions who could help garner support of the people in addressing critical societal challenges.
He pleaded for the support of the congress in view of the present economic situation, positing that both the state and Federal government were implementing policies and measures that would ameliorate the impact of the current economic challenge.
The Speaker assured the cpngress of sustained mutual relationship in all its activities towards giving the best to the people.
Earlier in their remarks, Comrade Midian Nanle and the State Secretary, Comrade Roseline Solarin congratulated the new Speaker on his emergence, assuring that the leadership of the Congress in the state would continue to engage the House on meaningful initiatives that will benefit workers in the private and public sectors in the state.
They sought for more government’s intervention in addressing the economic situation affecting Nigerians.
