Pension: Adeleke pays N12.7bn in 18months

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has paid pension of twelve billion seven hundred million naira within one and half years of his tenure.

Governor Adeleke made the disclosure, while releasing another four billion naira bond for retirees in the state.

He said: “For my administration, the amount of bonds released from December 2022 to date across State and LGAs is twelve billion, seven hundred and nineteen million, two hundred and forty five naira (N12, 719,245,528,00).

“I invite us all to note that the administration of my two predecessors for 12 years paid eleven billion, one hundred and fifty five million, six hundred and fifty one thousand, seven hundred and eighty naira (N11,155,651,780.56) for gratuities at the state level.

In his comments, the Osun State Head of Service, Elder Samuel Ayanleye Aina, stated that the records of Governor Adeleke on pension is unprecedented in the state. Aina said that Adeleke has not derailed on his promise to put smiles on the faces of the people of the state.

“Mr. Governor, I am not surprised that this kind of ceremony is taking place today going by your overwhelming commitment to the welfare of our senior citizens.

“This is in line with the tenet of the five action plans of the administration in Osun State which makes the welfare of the workers and retirees the number one,” he said.

Representatives of the pensioners, Gbenga Oyadare and Toyin Ayinde both commended Governor Adeleke, declaring that “there is no vacancy in Abere in 2026.”
