Tinubu to Federal COE Provost: Establish centre for research and innovation

President Bola Tinubu has urged the provost of Federal Colleges of Education to establish centres for research and innovation in their colleges where students can be adequately prepared to gain skills that will make them relevant in our present technological age.

He also promised to ensure the provision of quality education in the country and teacher’s education in particular.

President Tinubu represented by the Executive Secretary of National Commission for Colleges of Education, (NCCE) Prof. Paulinus Chijioke Okwelle, stated this at the 25th convocation ceremony of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta.

“This current administration will give full utmost support to every effort geared towards creating models to the reorientation of Nigerian youths to develop an entrepreneur mindset and this will better the attainment of the federal government’s objective of improved security and poverty reduction.”

“We will therefore promote and enhance the teaching and learning of entrepreneur skills in our educational institution and by that expose our youths to the basics and rudiment of starting and sustaining their own businesses.”

“Our graduates should think of becoming job creators rather than job seekers”

Earlier, the College provost, Dr Rafiu Soyele in his welcome address stated that 6, 444 graduates are going to be conferred with certificate in National Certificate in Education which spreads across the 5 different schools of the college.

School of secondary education Arts and Social Sciences, Early Childcare Education, Primary Education and Adult, Non-Formal Education School of Secondary Education languages, School of secondary Education Sciences and school of secondary education, Vocational.  

In his address, “our graduating students have been equipped not only in knowledge but also with skills, value and respect needed to create positive change in their communnities and beyond.” The set of graduand that are been coffered today have been trained through the full time, part-time and the Sandwich programme in the following academic session 2018/2019, 2019/2020, 2020/2021 and 2021/2022.”
