APC expels Aregbesola over alleged anti-party activities

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expelled former governor Rauf Aregbesola for anti-party activities.

The expulsion was formalized in a letter signed by APC’s Osun chairman Tajudeen Lawal and secretary Alao Olabisi Kamoru on Wednesday.

The letter stated that Aregbesola was given a chance to defend himself in line with the principles of natural justice during the disciplinary process.

Following the investigation, the State Executive Committee (SEC) reviewed the findings and agreed to expel Aregbesola for actions that undermined the party’s unity and integrity. These actions, the APC said, violated the party’s constitution.

With the expulsion, Aregbesola is no longer a member of APC and is prohibited from acting on behalf of the party.

Despite the expulsion, the APC acknowledged his past contributions but emphasised that the decision must be respected.

The former minister’s expulsion followed a Sunday meeting of the Omoluabi Progressive Caucus, (TOP) presided over by Aregbesola, where the group announced its decision to exit the APC, citing the party’s waning influence in Osun.
