Ekiti 2022: Stop de-marketing PDP governorship aspirants – Omolase

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has warned social media activists to desist from impugning the integrity of the party governorship contenders.

The State acting chairman, Hon. Lanre Omolase gave the warning in a statement made available to journalists by the State Publicity Secretary, Raphael Adeyanju.

Omolase called on every stakeholder in the party to bury their differences for the unity of the party, in order to form a formidable team that can dislodge the ruling All Progressive Congress, (APC).

He clarified that the participation of the present Ekiti State Working Committee, (SWC) in the last national convention had laid to rest any controversy surrounding the status of the present state executive.

“The National convention has ratified the Ward, Local Government and State congresses that produced the present Ekiti State PDP Executives. As the highest ruling organ of the party, the decision of the convention is final and binding on all members of the party. Anybody who decides to take contrary steps will be viewed as engaging in anti-party activities.”

“We urge all aggrieved members of the PDP  to come to a round table to resolve our differences, in the interest of our great party and  Ekiti State.

We cannot go to any battle with a divided home. We shall soon reach out to all stakeholders so that we can collectively map out the strategy of winning the next election.”

Omolase said:  “The last national convention of our party should serve as a great lesson to all our party members. It was an indication that our national leaders are really determined to lead us in a rescue mission to save Nigeria from the vultures called the APC.

If the PDP is  really ready to wrestle power from the ruling APC in Ekiti State, we as members must  bury our differences and jettison our individual interest to the collective interest for the party.”

We must commend and emulate our leaders that supervised a crisis-free convention that produced neither a victor nor a vanquished. Those that were not favoured by the outcome of the convention do not see themselves as losers. Nobody has taken arms against the party by engaging in needless litigation, since there are still many future benefits for every member of the party. “

The PDP chieftain warned all social Media Activists to desist from attacking members and leaders of the party.

He said “No lover of our great party should engage in activities that can divide us. It is, however, that some Social Media Activists are in the habit of attacking our party leaders and aspirants, instead of directing their energies against our common enemies.

We cannot expect people to respect us, if we keep destroying one another. “

The party chieftain who promised to engage in a robust discussion with all stakeholders of the Ekiti State chapter of the PDP, added that the party under his leadership would also be fair to all the party gubernatorial aspirants.

“We see every one of our gubernatorial aspirants as a potential candidate that we are going to sell to the electorates.

“We shall not be happy if some people destroy and de-market them before the gubernatorial election. We see all aspirants as one, we don’t have any favourite among them  ,all shall be treated with the respect  they deserve and we promise to be  just and fair to all.” Omolase said
