Fire guts Ondo INEC office

The headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akure, Ondo state was this evening (Thursday) gutted by fire.

The fire which started at about 7:30 pm destroyed card readers packed in a container.

The spokesperson of the commission, Barrister Festus Okoye, confirmed the development.

He disclosed that he is currently at the office with the administrative secretary of the state, Mr Popoola and some staff of the Commission trying to contain the fire incident.

Mr Okoye said the commission would launch an investigation into the incident.
