Ondo Guber: APC moves to pacify aggrieved aspirants

The national leadership of the ruling All Progressive Congress, has invited governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the 15 aggrieved aspirants that participated in the Ondo primary election to a reconciliatory meeting.

The leadership of the party, according to sources, is equally worried about the fate of the party in the November governorship election, if the tension amongst the aggrieved aspirants was not resolved amicably before the poll.

Those who participated in the governorship primary election include Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa, Hon. Isaac D. Kekemeke, Hon. Gbenga Edema, Mr. Ohunyeye Olamide Felix, Hon. Olujimi Odimayo, Mr. Olusoji Ehinlanwo, Morayo Lebi, Prince Diran Iyantan, Prof. Francis Faduyile, Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele, Mrs. Funmilayo Waheed Adekojo and Engr. Funke Omogoroye.

It was gathered that the national leader of the party, Umar Ganduje, has invited Aiyedatiwa and the 15 aggrieved aspirants to a meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

A message forwarded to the all the aspirants reads “The National chairman of the All progressives Congress, (APC) Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje send you greetings and well wishes especially at this trying period.

“The chairman is also kindly inviting all the 16 aspirants who participated at the just concluded Ondo state gubernatorial primaries for an important meeting."

Venue of the meeting, according to the message is “APC National secretariat conference hall and time 2pm

The reconciliation meeting is coming after some of the aggrieved aspirants, have submitted petitions to the Appeal committee headed by the former Bauchi state governor, Mohammed Abubakar.

Our reporter learnt that the leadership of the party was worried about the reports from the state that the defeated aspirants were spoiling for a fight and threatening not to work with the candidate of the party, Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the November election.

The leadership of the party, according to a source planned to appeal to the aggrieved aspirants to work together in order to give the party a good chance of winning the November governorship election.
