Tobi Amusan bags Masters Degree in US varsity

World record holder, Tobi Amusan (OON) has added another colourful feather to her cap, after bagging a Masters of Arts in Leadership Studies and Sports Management at the University of Texas El Paso.

The current Commonwealth and African champion in the 100 m hurdles, as well as the meet record holder in three competitions also graduated from the same University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology.

The Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) named Amusan Africa’s Best Female Athlete for the Year in December 2022.

Winner at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham where she set a record and also the World Championships in Oregon, where she set a new World Record of 12.12s in the Hurdles event, Amusan has been far above her contemporaries.   

She also won the Diamond League trophy for the second successive season, highlighting her rating as one of the world’s best and Africa’s undisputed number one at the moment.

Amusan opened her 2023 season on an impressive note, clinching victory at the Auburn Tiger Track Classics by clocking a time of 23.38s to win the women’s 200m at ahead of University of Auburn’s duo Chante Clinkscale in 23.56s and Ashantae Harvey in 24.46s.

She tops the list of Nigerian athletes who have secured their qualifications to this year’s World Athletics Championship billed for Budapest, Hungary.
