The intensive and highly structured closed-camping activities put in place by the Lagos State Sports Commission for Team Lagos Athletes in readiness for the 20th National Sports Festival, tagged “EDO 2020”, has been suspended due to the postponement of the games for the third time by the Federal Government.
The Director-General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Oluwatoyin Gafaar, has restated the commitment of the government to ensure that the best athletes in the State participate in the forthcoming 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) tagged “EDO 2020” scheduled to hold in Benin, Edo State.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has thrown his weight behind the revival of the National Principals Cup competition, saying it is a national asset for building the character of future leaders and uniting the nation.
The 20th National Sports Festival, originally meant to take place in March 2020 in Benin City, has again been postponed due to COVID-19.
The Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde has reiterated the commitment of his administration to sports development while declaring that the government will provide an enabling environment for sporting activities to thrive in the state.
