Factors that may decide Ogun governorship election

As indigenes and residents of Ogun state goes to the poll to elect the person who will be in charge of affairs in the gateway state for the next four years.

13 Political parties will be participating in the election with most of the parties already endorsing one candidate or the other. 

This report will be focusing on some of the major political parties 

All Progressive Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Africa Democratic Party (ADC) and the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) based on the level of popularity and acceptability within the state. 

Voting strength of each region

As per INEC registered voters list Ogun central has the highest number of registered voters with 1,040,317 persons followed by Ogun West with 859,743 and Ogun East with the least number of registered voters 789,245 in the state.

Putting into consideration the last presidential election voters turn out, Ogun central has the highest number of voters which will also be a major deciding factor.

All political parties participating in the election will strive hard to have the biggest share of votes that will be coming out from the senatorial district (Ogun central) since it is the senatorial district with the highest voting population and most PVCs collected

It is expected that Ogun East votes will be shared majorly between Dapo Abiodun of the APC and Hon Ladi Adebutu of the PDP because they both come from the senatorial district.

Both candidates have their deputy coming from Ogun West senatorial hoping to share majority of votes expected from the zone.

"Ogun West Agenda"

Stakeholders from this region are interested in supporting who they believe will guarantee their safe passage to Oke-Mosan which is a major factor for supporting the ruling APC considering the fact that should they support any other candidate aside from Dapo Abiodun they will have to queue for another 8 years before actualizing their dream. 

Although the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a bonafide son of the soil from Ogun West who is strongly backed by erstwhile governor of Ogun state Sen Ibikunle Amosun if he is able to get a large chunk of votes from his base and another massive vote from Ogun central with the support of SIA he might have good outing anything short of this will be a misfire.

Not also forgetting that the NNPP governorship candidate Ajadi Olufemi Oguntoyinbo is also from Ogun west senatorial district.

Although the senatorial district they come from may not decide fully their votes but it plays a strong role.
