Police begin manhunt in Ekiti as kidnappers abduct 10 people in 2 months

Ekiti Police Command confirmed on Sunday the kidnapping of an Agbanigo Isaac from his farm, bringing the number of people abducted so far in similar circumstances in the state to 10 in recent months.

The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that the serial kidnapping always ended with the release of the victims, although two deaths were recorded at the scene of the action during the period.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Sunday Abutu in a statement to Ado Ekiti on Sunday said Isaac, who resides in Ikere Ekiti, seat of the state’s Ikere LGA, has been kidnapped Saturday, around 4 p.m. the sa closes, along the Ajegbende-Ise Ekiti road.

He said that on the fateful day at around 6:45 p.m., information reached the Ilupeju-Ikere Ekiti Divisional Police Headquarters that unknown gunmen had abducted the man from his farm.

“Upon receipt of the information, a combined team of members of the police from the Ikere Ekiti regional command and from the Ilupeju-Ikere divisional police headquarters, mobilized to the places where they did not meet the wife and children of the victim.

Recounting the incident, the victim’s wife said the family were about to get into their vehicle on their way home, after completing the day’s work on the farm, when they were suddenly approached by seven masked armed men who ordered them to lie down facing the sea or risk losing their lives ”.

According to her, after the suspects asked them a series of questions, they escorted her and the children to the main road, but took her husband to an unknown destination.

She revealed that her husband’s family members had argued over the same farm with a lot of threats, before the incident happened, therefore, she suspects that the conflicting family members must be behind her husband’s kidnapping, as the kidnappers were all talking. in Ikere Ekiti dialect, ”said the PPRO.

Abutu revealed that the command has already invited three people for questioning and further investigation.

“We hereby implore everyone to remain calm, as the Command will do everything possible to rescue the victim and apprehend those behind the kidnapping.

“We have launched a serious manhunt and investigation to unravel the identities and apprehend those behind the kidnapping.
