25th convocation: FCE Abeokuta to graduate 6,440 students, 13 distinctions

The Federal College of Education, Abeokuta says 13 students will be graduating with distinctions at its 25th convocation scheduled for March 7.

Provost of the college, Dr Rafiu Adekola Soyele, disclosed this at the convocation press conference held at the institution’s council chamber.

According to the Provost, the total number of graduating students is 6,440. 13 of the graduands made distinctions.

11 finished with credit while 6,416 with pass from the various schools.

The 25th convocation comprises of four sets 2018/2019, 2019/2020, 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 regular, sandwich and part-time programs.

Dr Soyele noted that the convocation lecture scheduled for March 6 will be delivered by Prof Tunji Olaopa, Professor of Public Policy.

Prof Falola will be speaking on the topic: “Dual mode programme in Colleges of Education as catalyst for advancing teacher education in Nigeria: Issues challenges and opportunities.” The lecture will be chaired by Prof. Peter Okebukola, a former Executive Secretary, NUC.

Dr Soyele noted that the college still remains the most preferred college of education in the country.  

Speaaking further, he stated that 4 distinguished personalities will be conferred with the College fellowship award whose contributions to society and humanity have been extremely exceptional.

“The first person is Olowu of Owu, Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola, Mrs. Temitope Adeola, wife of the Senator representing Ogun West senatorial district, Olamilekan Adeola, Dr Gideon Chidiebere Osi and the immediate past provost of the Dr Adetayo Ajayi” he concluded
