COVID-19: Nigeria records 1,005 new cases, total now 144,521

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 1,005 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 144,521.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Friday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 854 coronavirus were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 24 new COVID-19 related deaths were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 1,734. 

The 1,005 new cases are reported from 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Lagos the epicenter of the virus in the country recorded 204 new infections followed by Kwara -155 and Oyo -124.

Other states with new cases include Plateau -80, FCT -75, Edo -56, Osun -48, Ondo -41, Kaduna -40, Rivers -40, Taraba -35, Borno -32, Ekiti -21, Ogun -20, Kano -14, Bayelsa -8, Delta -7, Bauchi -3 and Jigawa -2

Till date, 144521 cases have been confirmed, 118866 cases have been discharged and 1734 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
