COVID-19: Nigeria records 938 new cases, total now 143,516

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 938 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 143,516.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Thursday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 1,065 coronavirus were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 8 new COVID-19 related deaths were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 1,710.  

The 938 new cases are reported from 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicenter of the virus recorded 236 new infections followed by FCT -123 and Plateau -92.

Other states with new cases include Benue -63, Katsina -53, Oyo -50, Osun -45, Kaduna -43, Edo -33, Ogun -31, Ebonyi -31, Akwa Ibom -30, Kano -26, Gombe -18, Bauchi -16, Delta -12, Imo -11, Cross River -10, Rivers -10 and Niger -5.

Till date, 143,516 cases have been confirmed, 118,012 cases have been discharged and 1,710 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
