COVID-19: Nigeria records 1,617 new cases, total now 112,004

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 1,617 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 112,004.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Monday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 622 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 14 new COVID-19 related deaths increasing the nation’s death toll to 1,449.

The 1,617 new cases are reported from 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Lagos the epicenter of the virus in the nation recorded 776 new infections followed by Kaduna -147, Kwara -131 and FCT -102.

Other states with new cases include Plateau -78, Edo -59, Ogun -53, Osun -45, Rivers -37, Taraba -36, Nasarawa -34, Adamawa -33, Kano -26, Delta -20, Ebonyi -16, Bayelsa -11, Gombe -11 and Borno -2.

Till date, 112,004 cases have been confirmed, 89,939 cases have been discharged and 1,449 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
