COVID-19: Nigeria records 1,867 new cases, total now 107,345

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 1,867 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 107,345.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Friday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 705 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 8 new COVID-19 related deaths were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 1,413.

The 1,867 new cases were reported from 23 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The new figure is the country’s highest number of new positive samples confirmed within a 24-hour period.

Lagos the epicenter of the virus in Nigeria recorded 713 new infections followed by Plateau-273, FCT-199 and Kaduna-117.

Other states with at least one new case includes Oyo-79, Enugu-58, Ondo-53, Kano-49, Sokoto-43, Ogun-37, Osun-37, Nasarawa-36, Rivers-28, Benue-24, Delta-24, Niger-24, Gombe-18, Edo-15, Taraba-12, Bayelsa-10, Ekiti-9, Borno-6, Zamfara-2,  and Jigawa-1.

Till date, 107,345 cases have been confirmed, 84,535 cases have been discharged and 1,413 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
