COVID-19: Nigeria records 160 new cases, total now 56,177

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Saturday reported 160 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the nation's confirmed cases to 56,177.

The health agency (NCDC) made this known via its official twitter handle. 

Data from the NCDC shows that two new fatalities were recorded from the virus, bringing the death toll to 1,078.

The 160 new cases were reported from 12 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). 

Plateau and FCT shared joint highest infections of the day with 39 new cases each  followed by Lagos with 30 new infections.

Other states with new cases include Kaduna -23, Katsina -7, Rivers -6, Oyo -6, Yobe -3, Benue -3, Bayelsa -3, Abia -1, Edo -1 and Ekiti -1.

"Till date, 56,177 cases have been confirmed, 44,088 cases discharged and 1,078 deaths recorded in 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
