COVID-19: Nigeria records 47 new cases, total now 253,970

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 47 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 253,923.

The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Friday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 24 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 1 new COVID-19 related death was recorded increasing the nations death toll from the virus to  3,140

The 47 new cases are reported from 8 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country reported 22 new infections followed by FCT -5, Kwara -5 and Osun -5.

Other states with new cases include Delta -3, Kaduna -3, Jigawa -2, Nasarawa -1 and Rivers -1.

Till date, 253,970 have been confirmed 230,317 cases have been discharged and 3,140 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
