COVID-19: Nigeria records 501 new cases, as total exceed 78,000

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 501 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 78,434.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Sunday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 519 coronavirus patients who have been successfully treated in some of the isolation centres were discharged after receiving their second negative result while 3 new deaths were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 1,221.

The 501 new cases are reported from 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country recorded 218 new infections followed by FCT -112.

Other states with new infections include Kaduna -53, Plateau -24, Katsina -21, Kano -16, Yobe -14, Ondo -10, Ogun -9, Edo -7, Bayelsa -5, Rivers -4, Borno -4, Osun -2, and Ekiti -2

Till date, 78,434 cases have been confirmed, 68,303 cases have been discharged and 1,221 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
