COVID-19: Nigeria records 555 new cases, as total exceeds 40,000

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has announced 555 new COVID-19 cases, bringing total number of infections in the country to 40,532.

The health Agency disclosed this via its official twitter handle on Sunday

According to the NCDC, the new cases were reported from 17 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria reported 156 new cases, followed by Kano reporting 65 new infections, Ogun -57, Plateau -54 and Oyo -53.

Others are Benue -43, FCT -30, Ondo -18, Kaduna -16, Akwa Ibom -13, Gombe -13, Rivers -12, Ekiti -9, Osun -8, Cross River -3, Borno -2, Edo -2 and Bayelsa -1.

Till date a total of 40,532 persons have been infected so far, 17,374 have recovered and have been discharged after treatment in the country’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory

According to the NCDC, a total of 262,579 tests have been carried out as of July 26th, 2020.
