COVID-19: Nigeria records 79 new cases, total now 56,256

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 79 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 56,256.

The 79 new infections is the lowest figure in several months.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) shows that 4 new deaths were recorded on Sunday, pushing the nation’s death toll to 1,082.

The 79 new cases are reported from 12 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos reported the highest infection of the day with 30 new cases followed by Kaduna -17, Other states with new infections include Ogun -7, Anambra -5, Kano -4, Katsina -3, FCT -3, Akwa Ibom -3, Oyo -2, Rivers -2, Delta -1, Plateau -1, Ondo -1.

Till date, 56256 cases have been confirmed, 44,152 cases have been discharged and 1,082 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
