Oyo State secures €50 million loan from French government

The Oyo State Government will be granted a special treasury loan valued at €50 million for the development of its health sector by the French Government

This was disclosed on Friday by the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Emanuelle Blatmann, during a meeting between the delegation of the French government and the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde in Ibadan.

The Ambassador also said France is committed to the relationship it shares with the Oyo State Government, stating that France would continue to explore other sectors of development between both parties.

The Ambassador commended the administration of Gov. Makinde for “creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state.”

Governor Makinde added that he “appreciated the French government for its interest in the state,” adding that the partnership with the French government had begun to yield positive results for the state’s economic expansion agenda.

“One of the results of such partnership is the plan by French investors to establish a farmers’ market in the state,” he added.

The Governor also urged the French Government and the international community as a whole to pay attention to developments in Nigeria ahead of the 2023 general election, urging for French support in developing Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
