The Nigeria Police Force, Osun Command, on Wednesday confirmed the killing of one person in Iwo, during the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward Congress in the state.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed its outstanding State Congress for the purpose of electing new State Executive Committee in Lagos State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is prepared to conduct the Osun governorship election slated for July 16.

The All Progressive Congress has fixed its National Convention for March 26 at Eagles square.

Governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Southwest, have congratulated the Osun State Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, over his victory at the last Saturday’s governorship primary election of the party in Osun State.

Rising from a meeting held at the Ondo Governor’s lodge, Asokoro, Abuja on Monday, the Chairman, Southwest Governors’ Forum and Ondo State Governor ,  Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, said the five Governors from the region elected under the APC platform converged to congratulate and felicitate their brother Governor, Oyetola, over his victory.

“Most importantly, all of us decided to meet so that we will have the opportunity of congratulating our colleague, the Governor of Osun State who won his primary in a manner which we expected.

“So all of us are happy for him, that's why we all stayed so long, congratulating our colleague who won the election.” Governor Akeredolu said.

Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his Ogun State counterpart, Governor Dapo Abiodun as well as Governor Gboyega Oyetola were present at the meeting.

A faction of All Progressives Congress (APC), in Osun, loyal to the Minister of interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, says it will appeal the outcome of last Saturday primary election in the state.
