An Abeokuta High Court sitting in Isabo, the Ogun State capital has sentenced one Olumide Adekanbi to die by hanging for armed robbery.
Adekanbi pleaded not guilty to the two count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.
The Police Counsel Owolabi Akinola told the court that the convict committed the offence at Saraki area of Adigbe in 2016.
Adekanbi, along with others at large carted away one laptop, one Ipad and an Iphone6 during the robbery operation.
It was gathered that the items were later recovered where he kept them at the computer village in Oke-ilewo, Abeokuta.
One of the victims, Aboaba Salimon also told the court that Akinola hit him with an offensive weapon on the head while trying to escape during the incident.
Salmon added that while he was struggling with the robbers, the convict’s mobile phone dropped.
He was reportedly tracked and arrested by the police, using the mobile phone.
Justice Rotimi Balogun in his judgment ruled that the prosecution proved the essential element of armed robbery against the convict, who never denied robbing the victims.
Justice Balogun found him guilty and sentenced him to death by hanging.
